Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2) aims to eliminate hunger and malnutrition by 2030, emphasizing year-round access to nutritious food, sustainable agriculture, equitable support for small-scale farmers, and global collaboration for enhanced agricultural productivity. The UAE actively combats hunger and malnutrition through philanthropic donations and food aid to regions in need.

Ajman University (AU) actively supports SDG 2 by addressing hunger and improving food access through various initiatives:

Food Drives and Distribution: AU organizes food drives, especially during critical times like Ramadan, to ensure vulnerable populations have access to essential sustenance.

On-Campus Food Court: AU established an affordable and accessible food court on its campus, making wholesome meals easily accessible to students and staff.

Reducing Food Waste: AU minimizes food waste by preparing event food with precision, with event confirmations taken one day prior. Any extra food that remains is not wasted; instead, it is hygienically stored and repurposed to feed the cleaning and ground staff, effectively reducing waste while fulfilling a social responsibility.

These efforts align with AU's dedication to addressing local and global food security challenges and contribute to the UAE's broader goals and the SDGs' vision of a hunger-free world. AU's commitment to these initiatives plays a vital role in advancing the cause of ending hunger and promoting food security locally and globally.
