The UAE has emerged as a global leader in these practices, emphasizing renewable energy, eco-friendly technologies, and efficient urban planning to advance SDG 12.
Ajman University (AU) is dedicated to sustainable practices, aligned with the principles of Sustainable
Energy and Water Efficiency: AU emphasizes long-term energy and water efficiency improvements, reducing consumption and enhancing responsible resource management.
Medicine Recycling and Reuse: AU champions a Medicine Recycling and Reuse System, developed by AU students, to share surplus medications within communities and reduce waste.
Campus Sustainability: AU fosters a culture of sustainability through recycling programs, energy conservation measures, responsible water management, and minimizing plastic usage, maintaining a clean and green campus.
Digitalization and Building Management: AU has embraced digitalization since 2018 to improve operations, reduce costs, and minimize its carbon footprint. The ongoing installation of the Building Management System (BMS) in new and existing facilities enhances energy and water utilization efficiency.
Sustainable Investment Policy: AU's Sustainable Investment Policy underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement, and global citizenship.
Environmental Health and Safety: AU's Office of Environmental Health and Safety ensures compliance with environmental health and safety standards, including waste management and chemical handling in laboratories and clinics.
These efforts reflect AU's role in advancing sustainable consumption and production patterns, aligning with the aims of SDG 12.
